Saving and reusing gift wrap has been a family ritual for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a child, the same sheets have reappeared year after year for Christmas, anniversaries, and birthdays. This nurtured my love of packages, which I often found more meaningful than the gift itself. This collection of gift wrap, which my parents keep in an old wicker basket and which I’ve drawn on for this series, pays tribute to that tradition and celebrates the paper itself as content, no longer just something to be ripped off and thrown away.
Gift Wrap is a visual project exploring paper, memory, and the act of gifting.
